This gig was a new experience for me but one I wouldn’t forget in a hurry. Having never really cared too much for alternative rock before now, InMe were going to help me spread my wings into this musical genre. A look on their website a few days before the gig helped me understand their style, their sense of humour (the InMe website mentioned that their music ‘is music pirates would listen to’) and more importantly their passion for music.

Although I listen to music all the time nothing can beat live music and when you are going to see a band for the first time, it always gives me the feeling of excitement and anticipation to how the evening will evolve, and if I can add another band to my favourite list.

I was lucky enough to meet the band for an interview before the gig. I must say they are really great guys and their passion for music just oozes out in our conversation.

Grabbing a drink, I took my place to listen to the support bands Straight Lines and White Light Parade. Both these bands struck a cord with me and played great sets in the build up to InMe hitting the stage.

It was clear from looking around that loads of dedicated InMe fans had come to support them. Tour t-shirts were out in force and the buzz before they kicked off was just amazing. ‘InMe’ chants, clapping, shouting, the band couldn’t start soon enough for the audience waiting to be blown away.

From the first track ‘Nova Amarada’ there were a few things that were extremely clear to see; InMe have an amazing musical talent, technically they are very accomplished, and they work the audience in such a way that you become part of the performance.

InMe’s music is different and has such a mix of their influences and push from them to want to develop further every time they release an album, no track is the same.

Although they are classed as alternative rock/post grunge their music spans wider genres and although loud, intense, punk, rock, fast, slow, deep, a visit to hear them live has to be done if you get the chance – whatever your music influences.

InMe gave their fans over an hour of live music, and over 10 songs of musical entertainment. I use the word entertainment as they perform on stage; sing each track with the passion they put in to writing it, and their brotherly banter you get in between songs. They gave us tracks from all their albums and it was really hard to pick a track that didn’t outshine the others.

This band has, and continues, to develop since their original formation in 1996. Dave McPherson (lead singer and guitar), Simon Taylor (drummer), Greg McPherson (guitar and vocals) and Gary Marlow (the newest member on guitar) have developed a very individual sound, which appeals to all. Their tracks have riffs that have the audience singing with the band and you are pulled in to their music.

This band does not disappoint and I can’t praise their music, passion and raw talent enough.

My highlight of the evening has to be ‘Single of the Weak’ from their new album "Herald Moth" it was full of energy, the audience sang every word along with the band, I haven’t stopped singing it since. ‘Ferocity In Desire’ and ‘Faster The Chase’ have to be mentioned too.

Make you sure you delve in to the world of InMe and if you get the chance, Dave McPherson gigs as a solo artist too.

My musical wings are now spread; InMe will be on your favourite list after a visit to one of their gigs.
